As one writer to another, this is one conference you really shouldn’t really miss.
Malcolm Guite has often favored the foundation by speaking to and entertaining us at our events but this time he is sharing his specific expertise as a writer with us writers.
On Friday, he’ll present two sessions:
“The Word, and the words: Christ and the writer’s vocation.”
“Finding your form—finding your freedom; how form and craft can liberate your writing.”
Then on Saturday evening he will entertain us with his songs and singing.
On Sunday we will be blessed by a sermon by this extraordinary man for all seasons.
Also on Friday, life coach, Melanie Stiles will take you on a journey of self-discovery.
Then on Friday and Saturday evenings she will facilitate an opportunity for you to read some of your work and receive feedback from each other.
Saturday sessions especially relative to writers include
- “Marks of a Christian Writer,” by agent Steve Laube
- “Rough Magic: Lewis, Tolkien and the Alchemy of Creative Conflict,” by Diana Pavlac Glyer, author of The Company They Keep: C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien as Writers in Community
- “A Collaboration of Art and Poetry Rooted in Faith” by artist, Randall Hasson and poet Chris Baron
Writers are artists who use the five senses: sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste.
You will experience all in this feast for the senses. Faith will dance before your eyes as you watch the Au Deum Dancers. Your ears will drink in the magic of Malcolm’s singing. You will feel the touch of the Spirit as he moves among you. You will savor the fragrance of true worship and fellowship. And you will taste of the promise to come as we experience a little bit of heaven here on earth.
And that’s just a taste of what you’ll experience. This will be a holiday for your imagination and stimulus for your creative juices.
